Books for Prisoners (Military Personnel, Law Enforcement, Homeless Veterans, High School and College Students, and At-Risk Juveniles, too.)
In 2007 Sun Publishing Company began a “Books for Prisoners Project.” The Books for Prisoners Project is now a federally recognized 501(c)3 corporation able to receive tax-deductible donations.

The idea behind this new endeavor is to attempt to get some of the Leadership, Motivational, Self-Help, Inspirational, and Recovery books, which Sun specializes in publishing, into local penal institutions. Feedback from some initial experiments with placing this type of material into prisons has been very positive, both from prisoner recipients and from those individuals in administrative positions involved with making this type of material available to the inmates.

Sun’s hope is that these types of books will be made available to all prisoners who have an interest in self-improvement. They further hope, and sincerely believe, that the dissemination of this type of material to prison inmates will help to cut down on recidivism (the tendency of released inmates to commit new crimes and be returned to the prison system).

Sun also believes that, if, by making this material available to the inmates, they can help in some small way to prevent a future loss of life, through the reform of inmate thinking, then it will have been well worth all of the efforts and expense that it takes to get this type of material into the various prisons and jails around the country, and even, possibly, into penal institutions in other countries.

We are also in the process of making these books available to homeless veterans, at-risk youth, and other disadvantages persons.

Anyone interested in helping with this project, in some meaningful way, is requested to contact The Sun Companies by calling 505-471-5177 (mornings) or 505-660-0704, or by writing to PO Box 5588, Santa Fe, NM 87502-5588, or by sending an e-mail to: info@sunbooks.com

Financial donations to help with book printing expenses greatly appreciated!
